Within the control dimension, a restrictive parent provides clear rules and consequences for rule violations, consistently enforces rules, and rarely gives into coercive demands.
On the other hand, permissive parent is often the opposite. He or she often does not establish clear rules or expectations, provide consequences for inappropriate behaviors, or consistently enforce rules. Additionally, a permissive parent is also likely to give in to a child's demands.
