still feeding fledgling birds, usually for a couple weeks. If you don’t see any parents, back away and watch. The adult birds may be out getting a bug or worm for the young bird. If you are too close, the parents will stay out of sight waiting for a safe time to approach their offspring.

Finding baby rabbits in your yard does not always mean they are orphaned. Their mother is caring for offspring that are still in a nest. If the rabbit nest has been disturbed, replace the nesting material and snuggle the babies back into place. If the mother has been killed and the baby rabbit’s eyes are still closed, you need to take the babies to a wildlife rehabilitator.

Baby rabbits running around by themselves will be just fine. The rule for rabbits is if they are fully furred and their eyes are open, they are on their own.

A baby rabbit will leave the nest at a very young age and is capable of caring for its self, even if they look too small to be on their own.
