Carnival time is here! The rides are up and the parade is ready. Come out and support our Amissville Volunteer Fire Department. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for them. Don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets.
Box dinners will be available on Thursday night,
Earade night; they are the best ome cooked meals around. The crowning of the court will be on Friday night, and the big drawing for the raffle tickets will be on Saturday night.
Clyde R. Woodard, pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church in Amissville has retired because of health reasons. The church family extends its best wishes and prayers to Pastor Woodard and his family for a blessed retirement after 27 years in the ministry. The church is in the process of selecting a new pastor. An announcement will be made soon. We wish him well.
The Amissville Ruritan Club is sponsoring a CPR class at the Amissville Fire Department on Saturday, July 14 from 7 a.m. to noon. The cost is $1 for the handbook. We would like to have an idea of how many will attend by July 1. If you would like to attend please contact Charlie Mills at 829-5258.
On Friday evening Gary and I met a couple who are biking with the “Bike Virginia” Group. The couple was from Reston. They were Bruce Wright and Kerie Hitt. This was the first time Kerie had ever met anyone with the Hitt last name outside of her own family. The group is 1200 people strong and they stopped at Amissville Baptist Church on Tuesday morning for a rest stop on their way to Sperryville.
The 1200 people doubled the population of Amissville fqr several hours during their trip. The youth at the church prepared trail mix, apples, banana bread, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and water for the entire group, it was a sight to behold. The parking lot was full of bikes and people. It was a great experience for all involved. Z. Vacation Bible School *dates have been set for the Amissville Baptist Church; they are July 9-13, from 9 a.m. to noon. The.theme this year is SonCreek Junction.
