Who says kids can’t spell these days? Matthew Ralston, a junior at Rappahannock County High School, proves otherwise.
Matt placed first in the state in Virginia High School League spelling competition (singe-A division) at Charlottesville High School on March 25. The state finals in spelling were part of the state’s annual forensics competition comprising 10 categories of public speaking.
More than 500 Virginia students from single, double and triple-A competing schools participated in forensics events at the state tourney.
