Family apartment
The Planning Commission also unanimously recommended approval of Daniel and Carol Pilkington’s application for a family apartment on their 15-acre property at 335 Scrabble Road.
Mrs. Pilkington told the Commissioners that they plan to move her parents here from Richmond, and would house them in a small double-wide trailer that will be located next to their residence.
She noted that the unit “doesn’t look like a trailer . . . but like a small frame house,” and Commissioner Tom Tepper noted that it was well screened from the Scrabble Road.
Public Comment
Donna LaPre commented on the recently-approved Rappahannock National Bank (RNB) commercial development.
She implored the Commission to develop an “architectural code,” noting that “design is a critical issue” in Rappahannock County, and “little things here and little things there are starting to add up.”
Ms. LaPre referred to the design of the proposed new RNB facility which she said was “attractive, but not vernacular,” and added that a design code of some sort would prevent Rappahannock County from becoming more suburban in its appearance.
