Transportation Operations Manager Richard J. Jenkins has been recognized during a district staff meeting for his long and dedicated service with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Jenkins, who now heads the operations of the West Area Headquarters in Culpeper, began his VDOT career in Fairfax as maintenance assistant and equipment operator.
He later became an inspector, assigned to the 1-66 construction project. Following promotions to sign crew foreman, maintenance superintendent and construction superintendent, he joined the staff of the Culpeper Residency in 1980.
Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins have been married for 39 years, and reside in Slate Mills where he is a member of Slate Mills Baptist Church. They have three children and five grandchildren.
