J Both men appeared at separate times at the Virginia Press Association’s annual news writing conference in Roanoke. They weren't speaking - both literally and figuratively, and it could have gotten ugly, jdut it didn't. J Last Friday, Warner and Kilgore finally came to an Jagreement. They will petition the Supreme Court of ^Virginia to expedite the appeals process, so that oral ■arguments could be heard before the court’s summer -recess. * More importantly, the two men agreed to develop a process that will outline how such issues will be dealt with in the future, rather than risk the constitutional crisis that many saw' coming.
Every ten years, Virginia face redistricting; the ' majority party uses its influence to affect the outcome, and the minority party appeals. So, this year was no different. f Rappahannock and Fauquier counties felt the Jsfting of the redistricting, when the old 31st House ^District we shared - along with a lot of other interests, was split up. But have we, as individual voters, 'lost our voice in Richmond? j ( How closely we can work with those who represent jijs now - and how' we hold them accountable - is the Answer to that question. 4 I
