Easter Sunday, April 10 will mark the rebirth of the old Mount Salem Baptist Church, which has not been used for many years. The first religious service to be held there since restoration of the building began a year ago will be on Easter Sunday.
“It is quite fitting that Easter Sunday should be the first service because, for almost 20 years the church has been dormant and falling into disrepair and to the mercy of vandals,” said the Rev. B. G. Titchenell, who will be the speaker.
Peggy Hitt of the Amissville Ladies Auxiliary presented Amissville Fire Chief Russell Pullen with a $2,000 check at the annual banquet on Friday evening. The firemen and guests enjoyed a ham and turkey dinner.
Mary Moore Kilby has been initiated into the Percy Warren Senior Honor Society Chapter of Mortar Board, at Madison College. She is also a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Sigma Phi Lambda, secretary of Phi Omicron Tau and treasurer of the Frances Sale Club.
Miss Kilby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin R. Kilby of Sperryville, graduated from Rappahannock County High School in 1974.
