It was cold, it was hot, it was rainy — it was spring sports time in Virginia. Almost everyone saw some kind of action.
The RCHS track team traveled to Page County on March 2 for another cold afternoon track meet.
The teams performed well, and Coach Speiker believes this year’s squads could really surprise some people in the district.
The varsity softball team picked up where it left off last year, and won two games over two totally different teams.
The Lady Panthers beat Handley High School 15-0 on March 21, and then beat Amelia County High School on March 23, by a score of 30.
The varsity baseball team traveled to Chincoteague on March 22, and played a doubleheader the next morning.
The boys played well, but came up on the short end of the stick in both games — losing 2-1 in the first, and 70 in the late game.
The soccer teams thought they had a contest with Culpeper High School but much needed spring rains called that off. Both varsity teams now gear up for Bull Run District openers against the Madison Mountaineers.
The JV soccer team went into action on March 21,but it wasn’t a pretty season opener.
The reality of small team size pitted a short-handed JV Panther team against the Central side — it w'as no contest and the Central JV won handedly 9 to 0.
