grates, with piping leading to the system. Two inlets along hilly Woodward Road (Route 600) will pick up runoff from that steep roadway and drop it into a 15” concrete pipe connected to the main system.
Ponding and wet spots on the river side of Main Street will be collected by inlets and carried under Main Street to the main drainage system. A dozen inlets of the main sys, tem catch runoff and guide it to a 36”outfall pipe angling under Main Street to the Thornton River. An interesting note is the very shallow curbing and gutter-bottom inlets along Main Street, designed to double as a pedestrian sidewalk. The long-term drainage problem in Sperryville appears to finally be coming to end.
