With the sultry days of summer upon us, there is nothing better than a good book to pass the time. Whether reading from a beach chair parked in the sand, or perched upon a stool at the local air-conditioned library, literature is a great escape for all ages.

Literature has so much to offer. Reading can help you become more finely tuned to language, both your own and other people's. It can make you keenly conscious of how to use the word that is precisely right rather than the word that is merely good enough.

It has been said that the best preparation for law school is a solid understanding of the English language, and a knack for poetry. Why poetry? Quite simply, interpretation of law is interpretation of language. The study of legal thinking, as well as the study of poetry includes providing a sample of text and asking how many different ways can this text have meaning?
