new system, System X (10). This is a completely new system “under the hood” that’s not based on earlier versions of the Mac OS, although longtime users will find it very familiar. Based on the very powerful and stable UNIX system, Apple has produced a system that doesn’t crash or “freeze up”. Always the innovator of striking new equipment and systems, Apple has left Windows scrambling to catch up again with the extremely powerful and very stable System X.
Mac users have always been highly enthusiastic about their system, but the with the release of this new system, a quantum leap has been been achieved. Apple has also, with the cooperation of Microsoft, made it much easier to live in a Windows world with the whole suite of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Entourage) available for Mac and the documents produced open on any Office equipped Windows computer with no translation needed.
