Granted, you can’t put a teenager on your lap and read stories every night. But you can still help older children become enthusiastic about reading. It is especially important to encourage reading for the fun of it.
Create an environment rich with books. Make books readily available throughout your home and in the back seat of your vehicle.
Read with your children every chance you get—even if it is just a column of a newspaper article at the breakfast table.
Visit the library. Get a library card in your child’s name and one for yourself if you don’t have one.
