Methodist Church hosted an appreciation dinner at the fire hall on Sunday afternoon to honor Merlin and Joy Shorb. The Flint Hill Church presented them with a painting of the church painted by artist, Geneva Welch.

Rev. Shorb was recognized for his faithful service of 20 years to the community and to the Rappahannock Charge (Flint Hill, Willis Chapel and Sperryville).

A spokesperson from each church, Mary Curtis, Shelby Welch, Sandy Gourley and Lillian Fox praised Rev. Shorb for being a great pastor.

The Shorbs with their family, Merlin Jr., Jennifer and Denise came to Rappahannock in June of 1982, which was his first charge.

I recall his first wedding which took place in the Willis Chapel Church on Sept. 4, 1982 when he united Robin Ricker and Bill Dennis in marriage. I remember because Bill
