tation in the upscale market for its distinctive designs. Everything at Braeland Studios is hand made, hand painted and then shipped to customers by the Hubers and their assistants, some who come from close by and some from New York and some from England and France.
The Braeland collection includes furniture and door knobs, trays and trivets, a woodland chess board/table with marvelous hand-sculpted, cast and painted woodland critters as the chess pieces. They've also created a puppet theatre complete with puppets, props and several different backdrops.
One of the Hubers most engaging creations is Otis the rabbit, a Frenchman, mais oui. a world traveler and gourmand who manages to have some extraordinary adventures. Otis now has his own company, Otis & Company, which is well worth checking out.
The Hubers' business has been geared entirely to their wholesale trade until just recently when they opened up a small sun-lit room in the front of the packing shed to accommodate their wholesale buyers as well as a growing retail market.
“Braeland" is a Celtic word which very loosely translated means “beautiful land.” A visit to Braeland Studios is to start on an adventure. It is open seven days a week from 10 until 6 p.m. or by appointment, 6752047. Otis & Company and Braeland Studios can be visited at wvvw.braeland.com.
