Directors plan meeting

The Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District holds its monthly Board of Directors’ meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Meetings rotate alphabetically on a county basis by the five counties served by the District— Culpeper, Greene, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock.

The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on Aug. 6 at the Washington Volunteer Fire Department in Washington. For further information call 825-8591.

Activities at Dreamtime

Dreamtime Center for Herbal Studies is offering the following upcoming activities:

July 27, Making Herbal Beer. Spend a delightful day learning all the how to's of herbal beer brewing with Tara Welty from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sampling included. Fee is $60; brown bag lunch.

Aug. 3, “Wonders of the Wetland” Dreamtime Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. See the spectacular show of natives planted around two ponds including brilliant lobelias, sultry swamp milkweeds, vivid vervains and more. Fee is $40, brown bag lunch.

Clinic will be open July 31

The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local operation of the Fauquier Free Clinic Inc., is currently open on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month. The clinic will be open Wednesday, July 31 and not again until Aug. 7. Patient registration is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock Public Health Department Building. Demolition Der by set •

Applications are now being accepted for the Demolition Derby to be held Saturday, Aug. 24 during the Page Fair in Luray and Rappahannock residents are encouraged to participate. Drivers must be 21 years of age. Cars may include any American made stock, hardtop automobile or station wagon. Official entry blanks are available by calling 743-4949, The fair runs from Aug. 18 through Aug. 24.

Class reunion scheduled

Any resident living in Rappahannock County that graduated from Culpeper County High School in 1992 is reminded of a class reunion to be. held on Saturday, Aug. 10 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Remington Lion Club building. AAUBaseball tryouts

On Saturday, Aug. 3 the Fauquier Cardinals will hold tryouts for the AAU travel baseball team. Participants cannot be 12 before Aug. 1. Family reunion planned

The Jenkins, Sisk and Woodward families will gather on Sunday, Aug. 4 at noon for a reunion at the Rappahannock Park. Those attending should bring a covered dish. Everyone is welcome.

Soccer League registration set

The Rappahannock Youth Soccer League fall registration is now in progress. Players from U-6 through U-18 may participate. U-6 players must be 5 years old by Sept. 8. Applications may be picked up at the kiosk in Washington and the Public Library now through Aug. 3. Fees are $35 for the first player and $20 for each additional family member. Some scholarships are available.

Hike scheduled

“Second Saturday” hike to trails in the Shenanhoah National Park along upper Rappahannock River tributaries will be held on Saturday. Aug. 10 to White Oak Canyon-Robinson River. Those attending should meet between 8 and 8:30 a.m. at Mountainside Market on US 211 west of Sperryville and caravan from there to trailheads.
