Generally, gifts are brought to the reception and placed on a special table.
As for how much to spend and what type of gift to give, let your heart and your affection for the hosts be your guide.
If you hear from family that the couple would prefer a charitable donation or no gift at all—as in the case of an older couple or a remarriage—please respect their wishes.
If you receive an announcement after the w'edding has taken place, you have no obligation to send a gift.
However, it is always nice to acknowledge the announcement with a card expressing your best wishes.
And finally, be on your absolute best behavior. Arrive on time, which is actually a half hour early. You don’t want to enter the church at the same time as the bride and her court are walking down the aisle. Arriving early also allows you to hear some of the beautiful prelude music that the wedding party has planned. Also, be respectful and remain quiet during the marriage ceremony.
