and shopping place for both vintage recycled goods and products from the earth is more than appropriate—it is almost the building’s dictate.

Mr. Wasmund adapted the large loading space to retail use by skinning the area down to its pine and poplar essentials, and he created a warm and inviting place for browsing an ever-changing display of furniture, architectural relics and collectibles acquired from estates and auctions and consigned by local sellers.

He has also used old wooden apple bins to great advantage to create the interior walls that serve to demarcate the library and the thrift shop, and to display merchandise and the artwork and books that give the library such a cozy feel.

In that library there is some fine art to see and to purchase (a Pilar Vazquez for example), books to browse and buy, a sound system to listen to, and satellite television to watch, should the need arise.

Strange brew, too

Dawn Story and Tom Coravos have enhanced the Copper Fox experience with their Strange Brew tearoom. While relaxing in the library, visitors can sip a glass of herbal ice tea or a cup of hot tea brewed from one of Dawn’s organic tea blends, or enjoy a homemade “summertime slush” and, in the near future, some homemade ice cream.

The teas and the New Moon Naturals products created by Ms. Story have enjoyed great regional popularity, and her line of products is available at Strange Brew as well. There are herbal elixirs like Free Spirit and Love Drops, healing perfume sprays including My Essence (“a sensual and exotic blend”), My Peace (“A relaxing and nostalgic blend”), and My Vitality (“Afresh and uplifting blend”), body and breast oils, an herbal insect repellent, and other natural goodies.
