Basket Weaving
Workshop
By Kara Corbin ' Instructed by Harriett Rosenblatt, basket weaving was one of the most popular and prolific workshops held. Everyone learned Jiow to make a God’s eye and weave many different styles of baskets. They used flat reed, wood rims, and spokes. When asked how they felt about the camp, Emily Carter said “This camp rocks, I’m having a blast!, and Nikki Bowers said, “This camp is so cool! I’m definitely coming back next year!”
Tile Making Workshop
By Andrew Kohler ' Instructed by Anne Richards and interned by Kate Kevis, tile making was one of the more interesting workshops offered. The class learned how to make tiles, glaze, and incise in slip. They also learned about diptychs and made keepsake boxes and double-tiled trivets to take home. Instructed by Mary Arthur and interned by Jessica Ashby, this workshop was held in the Culinary Arts studio at Rappahannock County High School. Donning their chef hats and whites, the students prepared tacos, apple pie from scratch, pork chops, pasta primavera with freshly made mozzarella, and pizza with herbs hand-picked from Goat Hill Farm. Owing to the good smells wafting from their end of the hallway, we know the staff and summer school attendees were eating their hearts out! <'"• Organic Farming
