It’s the first thing most people reach for in the morning. It’s what gets them going even when that voice inside their heads begs for another hour of sleep.
It’s coffee, something that many enjoy, and which has become a passion for Jesse, Kenny and Maggie Rogers of Central Coffee Roasters in Sperryville.
“All of us love coffee,” said Maggie Rogers about her family and their business which opened in Sperryville four years ago.
Their coffee has become popular around Rappahannock County and elsewhere. The Rogers supply many local bed and breakfasts and inns, delis, restaurants and markets as well as establishments out of state and in Canada.
They sell to many private shoppers also, who stop in for coffee by the bag, as well as by the cup.
“There are lots of people who just swing by and grab a cup. That’s why we have a cup for a dollar. We don’t think coffee should cost more than a dollar,” said Jesse, the Rogers’ 25-yearold son, who helps his family roast beans.
Maggie said that while they do offer coffee by the cup their main priority is roasting. “We’re not really a coffee shop,” she said, “We’re a
