The Bluemont Concert Series will present the Mary Ann Redmond Band on Friday, Aug. 15 at 7:30 p.m. for the season finale of six outdoor evening performances held on the lawn of the old County Courthouse at West Davis Street in downtown Culpeper.
Admission is $5 per person, $3 for Bluemont Friends and seniors and $1 for children under six. Proceeds go to support a year round Artist-inEducation program in area schools.
The fabulous Mary Ann Redmond Band delights audiences with its soulful rhythm and blues, energy and instrumentals. Already a favorite in the Metro area and winner of 13 prestigious WAMMIE awards (Washington Area Music Association Awards), Virginia native Redmond is winning international acclaim for her rich voice, innovative compositions and passionate performance.
Redmond’s talented band includes Mike "Ibny” Echols on bass guitar, Deren Blessman on drums and Lenny Stevens on guitar. The Washington D.C. City Paper raves “Aretha is the Queen of Soul, Redmond must be considered an official Lady In Waiting.”
The Washington Post notes that “. .. Redmond can’t help but throw herself into everything she performs with soulfulness and sensuality.”
Plan to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. Culpeper Business and Professional Women will provide homemade refreshments as a fundraiser for its programs in the community.
Door prizes donated by Second Bank & TYust and Prince Michel wifi be awarded during intermission. Pets, alcohol and smoking are prohibited at all Bluemont events. In case of rain, concerts are held at Culpeper High School.
