McCarthy proposed the board deny purchase at $30,000, and instead request $71,125. This figure, he said, is considerably closer to the original $100,000 while still taking into account the said cost of renovation. This proposal was accepted by the board.
Also addressed were local polling locations, some of which are not paved or handicap accessible.
"There are a lot of okays on this list," McCarthy said about a list regarding the conditions of polling locations, "but they’re not all okays."
Some of the items which need to be fixed over the next 90 days may not be able to happen. He explained that some polling locations are churches, and thus public money cannot be spent on projects such as paving their parking lots. In other cases, such as fire halls, he said, the locations may not want the public to pave or otherwise alter the building.
"All the things we can do, we will do," he said.
