NAVIGATING
THROUGH GRIEF While some may view grief as a short period of pain or sadness in reaction to loss, it is really an emotional process that allows a person to let a loved one go and continue with his or her life in a healthy way. Although grieving is painful, it is important that people be allowed to express their grief. There are several phases, or emotional states, through which grieving individuals must progress. The first involves shock or numbness. This phase is often followed by a period of emotional upheaval, which can involve feelings of anger, loneliness, disbelief, cm- denial. The final phase of grief is the one in which people find a way to come to terms with the loss.
When put in a list like this, it can sound as if grief is some sort of logical progression, when, in fact, it is anything but. At the MOSER FUNERAL HOME, we have all sorts of resources for those who are suffering from loss. We understand that each person grieves in his or her own way.
