Celebration at Cooter's

Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane, Deputy Enos Strate and Deputy Cletus Hogg will be among the cast members appearing at this year’s Dukesfest at Cooter's Place in Sperryville from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 10. The annual gathering of “Dukes of Hazzard” fans will also feature a stunt driving performance, dozens of General Lees and live music. Also appearing will be Don Pedro Colley, who was Sheriff Little of neighboring Chickasaw County. “Cooter” himself, Ben Jones, the former Congressman who played the loyal sidekick mechanic for Bo and Luke Duke, will host the entire event.

Baseball registration

Babe Ruth Fall Baseball registration will be held at Stuart Field on Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Free Clinic open

The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local branch of the Fauquier Free Clinic will be open on Aug. 20. It operates on the first, third and fifth Wednesday evenings of each month in the Rappahannock County Health Department in Washington. Summer art classes

The Oldway Art Center will sponsor summer studio classes for children ages five to nine on Wednesdays until Aug. 13 and for children ages 10 to 16 on Thursdays until Aug. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. Persons 17 and older can attend on Fridays until Aug. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $50 per session.
