The Rev. Phil Bailey of the Washington Baptist Church feels differently and gave his personal views on the calendar from the pulpit recently.
“Modesty is something that should be held high,” he said in an interview. “That’s just my personal opinion. I was shocked when I first heard about the calendar.
“I am dealing with the criticism of being sanctimonious if I don't agree with it," he said.
While Bailey feels raising money for a high school track is a good cause and that “it is a shame our county does not have a good track. . .my issue is with modesty. We should keep it as a model for our children.”
Jon Heddleston, pastor of Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville gave a sermon of “Living in a Brave Nude World” on Oct. 26.
