Egypt has fascinated the world for hundreds of years. The Nile, the lifeline of Egypt over the millennia, has witnessed great civilizations. As Egypt has moved into the twenty-first century, there are many questions that can be asked.

For example, has the Nile in Egypt been tamed by the Aswan High Dam? What are the environmental impacts of the Dam? Many years ago, the Nile was connected to the Red Sea, an early attempt at connecting the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. Today, the Suez Canal stretches for 100 miles through the desert. Has it delivered to Egypt all that De Lesseps promised? Across the Suez Canal is the Sinai Peninsula, a beautiful and strategic land.
