Thursday being Thanksgiving Day, we thought it appropriate to pen a few lines about the day.
For thousands of years people have set aside a day for Thanksgiving and to celebrate the bountiful autumn harvest which we enjoy and give thanks for a great growing season during this past year.
The Pilgrim’s sharing with the Native Americans is what people imagine as the “first Thanksgiving.” The feast held in 1621 was a traditional English harvest celebration. History shows us that wild fowl was part of the food served at the first harvest celebration and our modern day staples were not served back then. So whatever we feast on this Thanksgiving Day, let's first take time out to give thanks to our Giver for all blessings, not only at Thanksgiving but every • day.

Our sympathy goes out to the family of Nancy Burns of O’Bannon Mill Road, here in Boston, who passed away on Sunday at Culpeper Regional Hospital at the age of 81.
We extend birthday wishes to a number of folks celebrating their day on Thanksgiving Day, namely Johnny Bragg, Buddy Grigsby and Lois McFarland, mother of Peggy Tharp.
Belated wishes go out to Tony Tharp who celebrated his day on Monday, Nov. 24.
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Penaranda of Griffinsburg Way , and their daughter, Patty Hicks have returned from a trip to San Francisco, Calif., going especially to attend the funeral of Nick’s uncle, Dalmacio Reyes, Sr. and also visiting his sisters, Evelyn and Joey Tbledo and Amelda and Richard Poblete.
