“Global Spotlight,” an educational program of Rappahannock County’s Headwaters Public Education Foundation, sponsored a lec-' ture Thursday evening at the Rappahannock County High School on “Egypt Today: Changing Times in an Ancient Land.”
Dr. Monira Rifaat, a local farmer and environmentalist, led the discussion from the perspective and knowledge of a person born in Alexandria, Egypt who came to this country in the 1960s to receive her advance degree in pathology and begin her practice of medicine. She now operates a large family-owned and operated cattle farm near Sperryville.
Noting that the evening program was presented earlier in the day to students at the high school, Rifaat quickly put the audience at ease with a bit of humor: “I gave this talk to students this morning, so I can go slow now!” But in fact, Dr. Rifaat’s presentation was a sophisticated lecture that both informed and entertained the
