The decision of the School
Board and Dr. Robert Chappell to resist pressure to adopt a pragmatic view of the “Men of Rappahannock” calendar fund-raiser is one I support and applaud. I hope they do not waver.
It is no surprise that there have been cries of outrage and incredulity from those who embrace a “the end justifies the means” rationale.
Dorothy Butler and her daughter, Nanette, stated their case for the value of appropriate role modeling so powerfully in the Nov. 20 Rappahannock News there is little else that needs elaboration.
Mrs. Butler, ever modest, feels no need to justify her position. For those new to Rappahannock, her many years as a public school teach er, her membership on the county’s School Board, and her role as a beloved wife and mother qualify her as a good role /nodel who is admired by
the i^ntire community.
