Glassblower celebrates

Sperryville Glassblower Eric Kvames invites everyone to celebrate his 30th anniversary at this year's Oldway Art Center Open House on Dec. 6 and 7 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be glassblowing all day, the popular seconds and imperfects sale, and Kvarnes will display work from all stages of his 30-yearcareer including some horribly ugly stuff from the early years. Several art studios will be open for tours and demonstrations. It is located .one mile West of Sperryville on Lee Highway. Watch for the red swinging bridge. Thanksgiving horse show

Bleu Rock Inn is sponsoring a Thanksgiving schooling horse show on Nov. 30 at 9:30 a.m. Classes include hunter, equitation, pleasure and jumper divisions. Democrats to meet

Rappahannock County Democrats and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock Library. The Dec. 6 Reorganization Caucus of the Rappahannock County Democratic Committee with its election of new officers will lead off the agenda. The meetings are open to the public.

Soil conservation meeting

The Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its monthly Board of Directors' meeting on Dec. 2 at 9:30 a.m. in Culpeper at the Virginia Department of Transportation. Meetings rotate alphabetically on a county basis by the five counties served by the District: Culpeper, Greene, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock. For further information call (540) 825-8591.

Children s book fair

Still looking for that special preschool or young reader book for holiday giving? Drop by “Storytime” at Rappahannock County Library on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 10:30 a.m. for a look at Usborne Publishing's board books and learning books that may spark your child’s reading needs. The Preschool and Young Reader Bookfair will run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Parenting workshops

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Service will present two workshops on Positive Parenting at the Rappahannock County Library on Dec. 3 and 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The workshops focus on the nurturing and guidance of children, the primary tasks of parents. Interior decorating class

A free “how-to”’ seminar on interior decorating will be held Thursday, Dec. 4 in the Jamieson Room of the Rappahannock County Public Library at 7 p.m. It will be presented by Lois Kerchner of Interiors by Whitcairn.
