Looking to his favorite artist Picasso for inspiration, third grader Kevin Kidd’s entry into Rappahannock County Library’s first Art and Word Posters Contest was the judges’ choice for “Best of Show.”
Kevin, son of Heather and Kevin Kidd Sr., of Sperryville, submitted a colorful oil crayon rendition of George Washington as seen through the eyes of Picasso. Home schooled, Kevin enjoys painting and experimenting with colors.
The theme of the show was “By George, It’s Washington’s Birthday” celebrating the federal holiday and Rappahannock County’s direct connection with George Washington.
Joining Kevin were 30 Rappahannock students whose entries were submitted in four categories: Art, Word, Essay, and Poetry.
Along with place ribbons all students were awarded participation ribbons.
