with Strother Shaw as Postmaster. The post office, usuall> tended to by the Shaws, was discontinued in 1868, but was reestablished May 22, 1871. The post office was again discontinued the first six months of 1881, and finally breathed its last breath, Nov. 30, 1917.
In the late 19th century the Comptons ran a store there, and about 1912, George Compton operated a blacksmith shop. Dr. James Russell Boldrige began his practice at Homeland in 1911.
