“There’s definitely a business part of this movement,” said Sawyers, who said they have set themselves up as a nonprofit organization governed by a board.
Tb date that board includes not only herself and her cofounder, but Leagardi-Laura and Gatto; George Tomes from the University of Virginia; Jake Michael, a local businessman; Sarah Pearson, director of American Youth Policy Forum; and Amrit Daryanani, a counselor at Wakefield School.
“These people are very involved in education, they have many perspectives and many influences,” said Sawyers, who believes that their combined energies will build a strong coalition of united voices.
Beyond the Web site and creating a local chapter which will eventually lead to chapters across the country, Sawyers plans to launch the movement with a march on Washington in the fall.
