Brand first won a coveted Peabody Award in 1982 for the National Public Radio broadcast, “The Sunday Show.” Fifteen years later he shared the Personal Peabody Award with Oprah Winfrey. The World Folk Music Association notes that in a broadcast career spanning 60 years, Brand has been the host of the longest running program with a single host in the history of radio — the “Folksong Festival” which began in 1945.
“Ballads and Ballots” is a program which has been enjoyed, among other places, on many college campuses.
