As Hunter explains it, once the material is collected and entered in a database, a computer can relate it like old map overlays to show the relationship of everything from land use to county services.
She said the youngsters could map roads and agriculture, villages and commercial areas as well as wildlife corridors, forest cover and the view shed. They could also prepare maps of significant historic phases of the county from the pre-Colombian Rappahannock through the Revolutionary and Civil War periods to the present. One of the key things to track might be the people relocated from the building of the Shenandoah National Park and the experiences of African American county residents over the years.
