Photo courtesy Ray T. Cannon Rappahannock Angus rancher Ray T. Cannon caught 50 or so of his purebred cows forming a “C” in the pond on his 300-acre El Rancho Grande Farm in Castleton. He says the “C” stands for Cows and Castleton and Cannon, and maybe it is so. They last formed a “C" and were pictured in the Rappahannock News on August 8, 2001. Said Cannon, 86, of the cows and his photographing techniques: “You had to fool around to wait until they get in position. I didn’t do anything to 'em. They take a bath every day to get away from the heat and the flies, too. That’s about as perfect a C’ as possible. They must be educated.”
