Rappahannock News Staff Photo Jan Clatterbuck LAWMAN LEAVES: Rappahannock County Circuit Court Bailiff and former Rappahannock County Sheriff William A. Buntin, 89, who is retiring from his court duties on June 30, was awarded a commemorative plaque by Sheriff Larry Sherertz. Buntin moved to Rappahannock in 1946 as a Virginia State trooper, and served as the county's sheriff from 1976 to 1984. when he took over duties as bailiff. “I have enjoyed working with all the people and the citizens of Rappahannock County," Buntin said at the ceremony at the county courthouse on June 25. Buntin and his wife Elizabeth plan to devote part of their retirement to travel.
