Robin Oyster, the valedictorian, gave a beautiful rendition of the song, “I Will Remember You.” Her subsequent remarks also alluded to the many memories she will carry with her of her time spent at Wakefield and of the experiences she has shared with her many school friends.
At Wakefield, these last few weeks have indeed been full of memories and changes. Headmaster Michael Vargo is retiring this summer, after nine years of dedicated service. Helen Foster Corbin, an “institution” for over 20 years as the school's housekeeper, is retiring at the end of the month.
June also marks the end of a long cycle for Richard Martin, another WCDS “fixture,” who has been teaching science and math in the prep school for many years. Yet it is also an exciting time - new students are registering, several new teachers have been hired, and Kathy Grove, the new headmistress, is scheduled to arrive Aug. 1, bringing with her great talents, enthusiasm, and a commitment to Wakefield’s classical curriculum. And the cycle begins anew.
