Sex offenders
Adds those convicted of using the Internet or other communications to lure minors for the purpose of sex to the Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry.
Taxes
After a lengthy special session this spring, the legislature approved increases in the sales, cigarette and recordation taxes as part of a massive budget overhaul that will benefit mainly education and human services.
The sales tax will increase from 4.5 cents on the dollar to 5 cents.
The cigarette tax will increase from 2.5 cents • per pack to 20 cents Sept. 1, and then to 30 cents on July 1 of next year.
The recordation t^x, the fee paid recording real estate transactions, will increase from 15 cents per $100 of assessed value to 20 cents.
