As June turns into duly, so

too do the new laws passed by the General Assembly come into effect.

This legislation now completes the transition from ideas to reality—real laws that will have a dramatic and beneficial impact on Virginia and all our citizens.

I would like to share some of the most important new laws that are the result of that hard work.

DUI penalties

Drivers on Virginia’s highways and byways will enjoy safer roads as a result of the tough new legislation we passed to crack down on drunk drivers in the Commonwealth.

My office sponsored legislation that will make anyone charged with a third DUI ineligible for bail thereby keeping them in jail after they’ve been arrested. This measure alone will keep our
