with her devotion and sent her at 19 to the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo., where she found “a room of her own” in which she learned to love learning.
“I was saved from sin by Jesus and what he did on the cross and his blood,” she said. “I still have a deep love of Christ.”
She never stopped studying, and her studies took her on a tour of the spiritual, which led her to a present interest in the I Ching and her favorite book, Richard Wilhelm’s “Book of Changes.” If she had to choose, she says she feels closest to a Taoist, of all the religions she knows, from Kabala to Buddhism.
“It all works out to the good, and it all has a purpose,” she said.
