Col. John R. Bourgeois of Washington hugs grandsons Gus. left, and Jack Bourgeois, before he blows out his candles. Some 150 friends gathered to celebrate the colonel’s 70th birthday Sunday at the home of Dan Manzo on Ben Venue Road. Festivities included Cajun food and party favors. Bourgeois is from Louisiana. Before he retired here, he was, for several U. S. presidents, the conductor of the U. S. Marine Band, the “President’s Own," at the White House.
