Fall is just around the corner, and we see farmers making their last cutting of hay and picking their apple crops. The mums are blooming and it’s my favorite time of the year. Fall travelers are here already, so be careful, the roads are very busy this time of year.
Mark your calendar for Sunday, Oct. 3, Homecoming Day at the Washington Baptist Church. Guest speaker will be former pastor Darrell Bare from Boone, N.C. and there will be a noteburning service to celebrate the payoff of the debt incurred by the new building. A covered-dish will follow the service.
Patrick O’Connell, chef and owner of the Inn at Little Washington gave a speech at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. on Sept. 8. O’Connell’s new cookbook, “Patrick O’Connell’s Refined American Cuisine,” will be out Sept. 20.
