While we are examining
the past 20, 30, 40 years, let us also look at the last three and a half years.
As Mr. Bush has used his chief executive record as a center-piece of his campaign for the presidency, it is entirely right and proper that some of his record, during his three and a half years in office, be examined closely.
First and foremost in my mind is his encouragement for big business to invest in labor markets outside of our borders, forsaking American workers— essentially telling employers, ‘I will give you a tax break, if you will dump your American employees for cheaper workers elsewhere in the world.’ Voila! Now the employers don’t have to worry about payroll taxes and benefits.
