United Way.

“Last year we reached out regionally and raised more funds in all the counties than in previous years,” said McKeen. “In addition to partner agencies in Rappahannock we have also added Headwaters as an affiliate agency in the Combined Federal Campaign.”

He went on to request that individuals who work in Northern Virginia and D.C. participate by payroll deduction at their work. Federal employees can designate 5100 on their government pledge forms and State employees can use 4500 or simply write in Piedmont United Way.

“Designating Piedmont United Way is important because it ensures those dollars will get to our area where they need to be,” McKeen noted.

In addition to the traditional workplace campaigns and direct mail, this year the Piedmont United Way announces “Cruise for a Cause,” in conjunction with Battlefield Travel and Carnival Cruise Lines. This new fund-raiser raises money when people book a particular cruise through Battlefield Travel and Carnival Cruise Lines.
