Captain Jeff Brown, Drug Abuse Resistance Education Officer (DAR.E.) for Rappahannock County, was honored August 17 as one of only two recipients of the Mike Bentowski Officer of the Year Award. The award recognizes Virginia DA.R.E. Officers who demonstrate “a high degree of commitment to the DA.R.E. Program in hia/hers schools, community, and state.”
“He’s worked very hard for 15 years to make a difference. It’s significant that he’s being recognized by his peers.” commented Rappahannock County Sheriff Larry Sherertz.
Brown won the award by being a unique presence in the lives of Rappahannock County’s kids. He has combined the jobs of School Resource Officer, Dare Officer and Sheriffs
