Ivan Hall, Sr. of Sperryville is a very proud papa these days. Raising his son on fishing rods has proved over the years to not only be a relaxing past time but profitable as well.
This past weekend kept Hall on his toes as he watched in anticipation with each day's results from a major fishing tournament in Woodbridge. His son was among the vast arena of fishermen from all parts of the country coming together to test their talents, the strength of their lines, their tenacity and their fish sense.
Hall was jubilant.
“He won. He came in first. He beat all the others,” said Hall as he shared reports of his son's achievement with family and friends.
Big win
Michael Hall of Annandale, VA won $9,400 and a new fishing boat in the Potomac Northeastern Everstart Bass fishing tournament on Saturday, but he still remembers fishing in the Rush River of Rappahannock county. Hall, a 52-year-old electrical engineer, caught over 53 pounds of bass over the course of four days winning the tournament by two and half pounds over his nearest competitor.
