I would like to thank the
School Board and supervisors for finally installing air conditioning and a new roof on the elementary school. These improvements are long overdue, and will improve the learning environment for our children and for the school staff.
I have however developed concerns about the management of the project and the welfare of our children and school staff. On the last two contract days for teachers to work, a construction crew had moved inside the school. The workers proceeded to tear out ceilings in the hallways. I understand that the air was filled with dust, and the floor was littered with rodent feces, filth, and other debris from above the ceiling. The ceiling tiles I saw in the dumpster were fiberglass. Fiberglass dust or air bom particles should not be inhaled. The school was build in an era of asbestos use. I understand the floor tiles are made from asbestos. Could floor polishing equipment of years ago have made dust from the floor tiles
