started the summer camp scholarship program in 1999, which raises money so that disadvantaged kids can go to summer camp. The program depends on the charity of the Rappahannock County community, and has sent over 200 local kids to camp since it began.
“People have been veiy generous and supportive,” acknowledged Brown.
It was the impressive amount of Brown’s work for the community taken as a whole that led to his being recognized with the Mike Bentowski award, and it's clear that he'll continue doing that work, especially when he tells how he got into this job.
“I had heard that the program was a good way to be proactive and fun for the officer,” smiled Brown.
