Also, working with groups like the Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund, United Stockgrowers of America (R-CALF USA), the Organization for Competitive Markets (OCM) and the Cattlemen's Competitive Market Project (CCMP), Miller has been a tireless political advocate for economic issues affecting small farmers and cattle ranchers Such as himself.
Miller played a role in the lawsuit that, until very recently, stopped importation of live Canadian cattle, as a partial quarantine against mad cow disease. And he helped lobby successfully for a national country of origin labeling law for beef. His efforts have yielded some fruit, but have not been without some defeats too.
